Ladies and gentlemen, and everyone in between – join your friends from the South London Theatre on Friday 5 March from 7.45pm for an evening at Rick’s Café Americain in the heart of Casablanca. Experience a story of love and hate in a background of adventure and sudden death as this seaport in French Morocco struggles to stay free of Nazi occupation as World War II ravages Europe, providing an escape route for refugees.
It’s the thrilling story of Rick Blaine, whose café has become a kind of haven for refugees seeking to obtain illicit letters that will help them escape. But when Ilsa, Rick’s former lover, and her freedom-fighting husband show up to his café one day, Rick faces a tough challenge which will bring complications, heartbreak and ultimately an excruciating decision to make.
A talented cast of familiar SLT faces will present this exciting story on Zoom in full costume (at least from the waist up), via the radio play which preceded the classic Hollywood movie.
