Casting Announcement: Good

Lisa Thomas announces her cast for the much-lauded 20th century play Good by CP Taylor, set in 1930s Germany, opening in early March.

“Cecil (C P) Taylor, a Glaswegian and Jewish socialist and playwright, wrote Good in 1980, 35 years after the end of World War II. It was his own attempt to try to explain how apparently reasonable, rational Germans became caught up in Nazism and contributed knowingly to its attendant horrors. He described his play as a ‘comedy with music’; Good uses popular tunes, classics and humour, alongside fictionalised references to actual events, to explore the story of its protagonist, John Halder, a man who regards himself as a good person throughout.

Many thanks to everyone who auditioned and for the great range of interpretations I heard. I am pleased to have assembled a cast of both existing and new members, and very much look forward to working with all of them.”
