Exploring The Archive: Shakespeare at SLT

It will come as no surprise that William Shakespeare is South London Theatre’s most performed playwright. As well as nearly 40 fully fledged productions of his plays, SLT has presented about a dozen Shakespearean shows in the form of adaptations, excerpts and parodies. Indeed one of these, extravagantly titled The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of Macbeth, has twice graced the stage of Bell Theatre. The free event was a part of our continued fundraising campaign to aid the restoration of our Old Fire Station theatre in West Norwood. Cakes & tarts, a raffle and […]

2016, Full Season Announced

SLT’s Theatre Committee are thrilled to reveal the rest of the South London Theatre’s exciting 2016 Season. This year’s season has been a tricky one to finalise. Rights to some directors’ first choice plays were unavailable which is a common and a difficult part of the selection process. Creating a season that is full of variety which includes a mix of genres with classic and contemporary texts that offer opportunities for a wide demographic of actors is a challenging balancing act, but SLT’s Theatre Committee have managed to do just […]
