Audience Attendance Oct – Dec 2017

It is in our constitution that we publish our audience figures every quarter. Here are the figures for the final quarter  of the year (October – December 2017). All show figures and revenue are available to members in the annual report issued prior to every AGM. It’s been quite a year with a very varied programme and audience figures have been, for the most part, very pleasing with plenty of sold-out notices and attendance at well over two-thirds capacity. Some […]

Auditions – His Dark Materials

We have a wonderful opportunity for adult performers to be involved in the first SLT production in the new theatre space at the Old Fire Station in West Norwood. It’s the epic two-part retelling of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials in an adaption written for and staged by the National Theatre. Our opening show needs you! We are looking to cast five roles from our adult membership, and make this a great collaboration between SLT and our amazing Youth Theatre. Those […]

Great Christmas Vaudeville Extravaganza Preview

From the director, Lisa Thomas: “When I was young, the TV schedules were packed with variety shows, glittering confections of comedy, song and dance, headlined by stars of the stage and the small screen. They ranged from superannuated end of the pier shows, enlarged for TV, to the nostalgic ‘The Good Old Days’, which aimed to capture the magic of the old time music hall with its mix of acts and enthusiastic audience dresses to the nines in Edwardian finery. […]

Casting – A Servant To Two Masters

Director Jo Boniface announces her cast for A Servant to Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni: “I had such an overwhelming response to my first ever auditions with SLT. We ran a workshop-style audition where I introduced some of the stock characters of Commedia D’ell Arte and we improvised with them. The result of this was two hours of hilarity and I think everyone had fun. This is just the start of a really mad and potentially raucous rehearsal period! I’m so looking […]

The Old Fire Station’s Heritage On Tour

This week SLT member Jeanette Hoile took the Old Fire Station on tour and gave a talk to the Phoenix Community Association in Crystal Palace about its many lives and fascinating heritage. The talk, which ran for 45 minutes including some eager questions from the floor, went down a storm and many of the audience members were intrigued by the fire station and the South London Theatre which has saved the building with the help of the Heritage Lottery. Jeanette, […]
