Opening soon – submissions for our 2019 Autumn/Winter season With Christmas fast approaching, and our fantastic new Spring/Summer season kicking off in the New Year, thoughts are turning to what will follow that. Having split the season into two, Spring/Summer will take us through to the beginning of August, and next we’ll be looking for ideas for our new Autumn/Winter season, running from the end of August through to February 2020. The Father – Meet the Cast

Director Jess Osorio announces her cast for The Father: “I am excited to announce the cast of The Father by Florian Zeller which I will be on stage in February 2019. I was fortunate to have a high standard of auditionees , both new and existing members, necessitating difficult decisions and choices. I am looking forward to starting rehearsals with a great cast on a show that will bring challenges for all of us. I will be working with Will Howells […]

Change of Box Office Manager

After almost three years (which originally was only going to be three months) Caroline Beckett will be stepping down as Box Office Manager. Cal took up the role in January 2016. It was a crucial time for the theatre as we had recently left our beautiful building for its refurbishment and the online booking system was new to all of us. Cal picked up this challenge and did an amazing job which I for one cannot thank her enough for. […]

Out of Love – Meet the Cast

Cal Beckett, director of Out of Love by Elinor Cook, announces her cast: “I’m thrilled to announce my lovely line-up for Out of Love, a funny and poignant piece of relatively new writing which impressed me at the Edinburgh Fringe last year, with its themes of friendship, families, love and loss. I was especially spoilt for choice at auditions with the two central female roles, but am delighted to introduce two very talented women, Jess Partridge and Clare Duffy, who […]

Forty Winks: the Director’s Preview

Chaz Doyle tells us about Forty Winks, our next show and his return to directing after a 3-year gap. What drew you to directing the play? I saw Forty Winks when it premiered at The Royal Court back in 2004. A new piece by Kevin Elyot, my friend had suggested we get tickets as he’d heard good things, and we weren’t disappointed. The show itself is short, but I remember leaving with so many questions. It just stuck in my […]

She Ventures, and He Wins – The Cast

Director Bex Law announces her cast for Ariadne’s She Ventures, and He Wins: “Assembling the ‘Ventures’ ensemble has been an absolute pleasure. Everyone that auditioned played with the scenes wholeheartedly, and shone light on this motley crew of characters. There were certainly difficult decisions to be made, and Marcus and I had a hard time deciding between a very talented bunch of actors. We are delighted with our cast, and can’t wait to start rehearsals. If the glimpses of performances we […]

Radiant Vermin – Casting Announcement

Director Jack King announces his cast for Philip Ridley’s Radiant Vermin: “I am delighted to say that having auditioned more than forty people for just three roles we could have cast this show twenty times over. The strength in depth of talent was truly amazing and made the final decision process an agonising one. In the end Ben and I opted for a blend of oldies and newbies which reflects the sheer wealth of ability currently available at SLT. Its an […]

The Reimagining of Sister Wendy: Interview

We interview Bryon Fear (director) and Marcus Reeves (writer) about next week’s production of Postcards from God – The Sister Wendy Musical: Marcus: What inspired you about Sister Wendy Beckett and her story? How did you research it? The show originally started out as a one-person show about the nature of fame and although it has changed format completely, that’s stayed as one of the central themes now that the show is a full-length musical. Set in a time before […]

Write Club brings you An Introduction to Playwriting, a short 5-week course that will give you the tools for bringing your words to the stage. This initiative is to encourage existing SLT members and our local community to unlock their storytelling potential through a regular group […]
