Tom Melly, director of the much-loved classic Toad of Toad Hall announces his cast: “Well, it was an almost impossible task selecting a final cast from such an enthusiastic and talented turnout, and if it had come down to those two attributes alone, I don’t think I could ever have made a final choice. However, I wanted a good mix of both established members and newcomers, as well as a nice mix of ages, temperaments, and sexes, and I couldn’t be happier […]
Naomi Liddle, director of the Molière classic The Misanthrope announces her cast: “This will be my second SLT foray into Molière, after The Hypochondriac way back in 2013, and I’m raring to get started again on the silly rhymes and witty backbiting (and that’s just the rehearsals). I feel spoiled to have amassed a cast of experienced old hands and brand new talent and am really looking forward to working with them all on this funny, satirical, misanthropic comedy of manners. I […]
This Saturday we will be holding an SLT Quiz Social for members and their friends. This is a sequel to last year’s successful quiz hosted by the inimitable Guy Jones. He has some words to say about this weekend’s quiz. Pay attention … there are things to solve: The questions have now been set and anyone who came to last year’s quiz and stayed sober enough to remember, will have a slight insight into how this one is going to […]
The following chart details the ticket sales for the first quarter of 2018. During this time the theatre was planning and implementing the move back to the Old Fire Station from Stanley Halls. His Dark Materials was the first performance back in the Old Fire Station in West Norwood and was a combined SLT and Youth Theatre production. The chart below represents tickets sold, rather than seats. Family tickets account for 4 seats in the auditorium. […]
Yes, it will soon be that time of year again! After the AGM on 21 May the new Theatre Committee will be looking for submissions from potential directors for plays that we can produce in 2019, so now is a good time to be giving some thought to what you might like to direct in our fabulous new theatre space. Theatre Committee pride ourselves on the range and variety of material in our productions, offering the widest possible range of […]
Guy Jones, director of Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit (Huis Clos) announces his cast: “This show is intense, character-driven and depends on a very specific dynamic being created between the three lead characters, so casting it was never going to be easy. We had such talent turn up at auditions, then put the best through a rigorous callback, in a fittingly stuffy and claustrophobic room and after a lot of infernal, tortuous angst and deliberation, I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to announce […]
Lisa Thomas, director of Alan Ayckbourn’s A Chorus of Disapproval announces her cast: “I’m delighted to announce the cast for A Chorus of Disapproval, Alan Ayckbourn’s brilliant comedy about an amateur operatic society rehearsing for their production of The Beggar’s Opera. A seemingly shy newcomer, Guy Jones, is welcomed into the company fold and makes the most of all the opportunities that he is offered.” – Lisa Thomas Guy Jones – Adam Crook Dafydd ap Llewellyn – Jason Salmon Hannah Llewellyn – […]
Hello all you lovely people! Guess what? We’re moving back to West Norwood! Back to The Fire Station! OMG! etc, etc … However, this isn’t a small task… For those who were there for The Big Move Part I – Exodus, you remember that it was a full day of shifting and sorting. This needs to happen again. So, I call upon you, you brave volunteers, you crazy fools, you young love-birds and theatre officiandoes … Can you help once […]
Many of you will have attended our Youth Show, His Dark Materials, during March and will have had a preview of our wonderful new theatre space. Hurrah! You’ll also have seen that much of the building remains unfinished and although next time you visit it shouldn’t look quite so incomplete; nevertheless because of budget limitations, we need to continue fundraising and much of the outstanding work needs to be done by us. The shortfall in funding needed to complete the […]
