The Old Fire Station’s Heritage On Tour

This week SLT member Jeanette Hoile took the Old Fire Station on tour and gave a talk to the Phoenix Community Association in Crystal Palace about its many lives and fascinating heritage. The talk, which ran for 45 minutes including some eager questions from the floor, went down a storm and many of the audience members were intrigued by the fire station and the South London Theatre which has saved the building with the help of the Heritage Lottery. Giving Thanks

We are now entering the final 6 months of the restoration of our Old Fire Station, a point which has taken 14 years to reach. Without these hours the project would never have happened, and current and future members owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the project lynchpins. We will begin with a heartfelt hurrah for all their work; […]

The generous donation from the HLF and other donors has enabled SLT to save our historic building allowing us to provide once again a cultural arts centre and a vital community hub in the heart of West Norwood. If we do not reach our target in 5 weeks […]

Announcing New Writing Competition Short List

We are delighted to announce the shortlist for the SLT New Writing Competition. The reading panel were impressed with both the number of entries and the quality of the scripts, which did not make deliberation easy. The play scripts were read by all on the panel and, throughout the process, the scripts were anonymised so that the panel did not know the writers of each piece. When reading the plays, the plot, characters, dialogue and the overall impression were considered. […]
