A New Logo For A New Era

The South London Theatre – or rather the South London Theatre Centre as it was known when it was first set up in 1967 – has had a few logos over the years. Logos which have reflected the changing times, celebrated the club’s anniversaries and marked its longevity as a fixture of West Norwood. 2017 will mark SLT’s 50th year and to celebrate we will be creating a new logo for a new era. A logo that will be contemporary, effective across […]

Hoardings Get Eye-Popping Designs

Over the weekend the hoardings outside of the theatre were decorated with some street art. Many members of the community who saw the work in progress were concerned that the hoardings were being vandalised, but they were in fact being adorned with some eye-catching designs. Ash Contracting Ltd. who are in the process of restoring the building suggested to SLT that it might be a good idea to approach All City London, an organisation which lets artists know where there are permissible spaces where they can create […]

SLT Thanks the Norwood Society

This week the Norwood Society made a kind donation to the South London Theatre’s ongoing restoration project. SLT would like to thank them for their donation and the work that they do maintaining the heritage of our local area. The Norwood Society was set up in 1960 by some members of the local community who had the foresight to form an organisation that could protect the heritage of its local area and share with people its history. As well as the important […]

Restoration Project – Day One

It’s been a long time coming … but today the contractors who have been set with the task of restoring our Grade II listed Old Fire Station moved into the site at 8am this morning. Camelot Europe who have provided security for the building since last year handed over keys to Matthew Cox, Commercial Director of Ash Contacting Ltd. at 9am. The live-in guardians who vacated the Old Fire Station in the last 24 hours left the building exceptionally clean and tidy and we are […]

Old Fire Station Restoration: Project Update

It was a massive blow to our restoration project when our initial contractors pulled out back in May within weeks of the building works to begin. SLT immediately rallied the troops and began a renewed fundraising push to raise an estimated shortfall of £150,000 to secure the future of our theatre. At that time building contractors Ash Contracting Ltd, who had previously tendered for the project, were approached and a new period of negotiation began to formulate a new scheme of work that could be delivered […]
