We cannot underestimate the invaluable hours spent by our volunteers dealing with forms, lawyers, funders, architects, council officers and contractors. Without these hours the project would never have happened, and current and future members owe an enormous debt of gratitude to the project lynchpins. We will begin with a heartfelt hurrah for all their work; Geoff Lill, Carole Coyne and Bob Callender who have toiled for over a decade to make the restoration happen – please enjoy a virtual 3 cheers from all of us, as we think you are genuinely jolly good fellows !
Of course there are also many members who have supported all our fundraising efforts whether that has been given in time, talent or financial donations and it is so very important to recognise the input of the membership as a whole as well as the support of the local community, our architects Thomas Ford & Partners and builders Ash Contracting Ltd. When we launched our recent Crowdfunder campaign which highlighted our equipment needs for our new space, our members yet again, along with the West Norwood community and even people unknown to us, proved generous, kick-starting the equipment fund by reaching 50% of our requested total.
SLT as an organisation recognises and thanks every one of you.
It is important for us to also recognise everyone who has made a financial donation, individuals as well as the Heritage Lottery Fund and the other funding bodies and businesses that have supported the project. In the new building there will be a space in the new foyer dedicated to honouring individuals who donated £500 or more to the cause. And here, on our website, our publicity director has created a virtual wall to thank everyone who has donated*, highlighting those names that will appear in the theatre foyer. Some donors requested anonymity and we have respected their wish to remain so – their names do not appear here, nor do those that donated via the mobile app JustGiving – those donations were, by their very nature, anonymous.
We are still trying to raise a final £100,000 and we will be updating our virtual and actual Thank You walls as the donations come in. If you would like to make a donation please see below how to do so. Thank you.
– Lee Ridgeway, Chairman of SLT
