Performances: November 20-24, 2018
First Rehearsal: September 23, 2018
This audition is for the role of Hermia/Celia only.
Hampstead. September. A Sunday afternoon.
Dom is having a hard time of it at the moment and his mind is rather preoccupied, so deciding to pop in on his old school friends may not have been the best decision. The problem is that these old school “friends” consist of his ex-girlfriend, Diana, who never really got over him. Howard, Diana’s husband, who never really stopped being the tightly-wound prefect who hated Dom. And Charlie, Howard’s younger brother, who had a completely different “thing” for Dom.
Kevin Elyot’s Forty Winks was first performed at The Royal Court theatre in 2004 and showed us what it is like to deal with lost loves, loves lost, death, abuse and narcolepsy.
List of Characters:
Dom – Early 30’s. Good looking, but unsure of himself. Dom is having a hard time of it at the moment and his mind is rather preoccupied.
Diana – Early 30’s. Confident and in control, but seeing Dom after so many years throws her for a loop. Married to Howard.
Howard – Mid 30’s. Diana’s husband. Not as successful as he’d like to be and a bit petty.
Charlie – Early 30’s. Howard’s younger brother. Gay and living life to the fullest, while he still can.
Danny – Mid 40’s plus. Irish. Charlie’s boyfriend and cardiologistic. The outsider to this group of old school friends.
Hermia/Celia – 14 years old. Diana’s daughter. Carefree but not childish.
Auditions for the part of Hermia/Celia will take place on a Saturday afternoon in early September (tbc).
