What is that, trailing your footsteps, breathing softly down your neck? Rediscover the magic and wonder of the original Grimm Tales, retold by master-storyteller Philip Pullman. Full of deliciously dark twists and turns, the tales come to life in all their glittering, macabre brilliance – a delight for children and adults alike.
Phillip Pullman has adapted the Brothers Grimm Tales for the Stage and each play involves playing a character in a fairy story as well as narrating the story itself. Think “Story book come to life”
The show itself will be the traditional fairy-story show but with that dark edge that the Brothers Grimm originally wrote into their children’s tales. The three tales I have chosen within Grimm Tales are Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood and The Donkey Cabbage.
So for auditions I’m asking you to read me a fairy story. Self-tape yourself reading and bringing to life a fairy story of your choice.
There are 4 people in the cast. I’m not looking for a specific age or gender, just great storytellers with lots of energy.
• No longer than 5 mins
• Can be filmed on anything as long as it can be emailed
• Must include both narration and “voices” of the characters
• Can use props but not essential
What I’m looking for is characterisation as well as the ability to capture an audience with your story telling. However you do that is up to you.
