Love and Information
by Caryl Churchill
Director: Dave Hollander
Performances: May 5-8, 2020
First rehearsal: March 8, 2020
Someone sneezes. Someone can’t get a signal. Someone won’t answer the door. Someone put an elephant on the stairs. Someone’s not ready to talk. Someone hates irrational numbers. Someone told the police. Someone got a message from the traffic light. Someone’s never felt like this before…
In this fast-moving kaleidoscope, more than a hundred characters try to make sense of what they know. Caryl Churchill’s enigmatic piece deals with the essence of human communication – and how digital technology connects and disrupts our lives. As an ensemble, we’ll be working together as a team to piece together this mosaic of modern life, using a variety of techniques.
Love and Information is made up of lots of short scenes, with every actor playing multiple roles. The audition pieces give an indication of the style of the play – no parts are assigned, but most scenes include two spoken roles.
The audition will take the form of a group workshop, working in pairs to bring a selection of scenes to life. There’s no need to prepare a specific scene in advance, as you’ll be asked to work on several different ones.
We’re looking for an ensemble of 8 to 20 actors of any age, gender and background.
Please register online to audition.
