Postcards from God – The Sister Wendy Musical
by Marcus Reeves
Director: Bryon Fear
Performances: November 6-10, 2018
First Rehearsal: September 9, 2018
‘Postcards from God – The Sister Wendy Musical’ is a colourful musical portrait of ‘art nun’ Sister Wendy Beckett, who became a household name in the nineties with her televised tours of the UK, Europe and America, spreading her homespun philosophy that ‘art is for everyone’. But as the reluctant pop icon swapped her humble mobile home for the caravan of fame, her simple life would never be the same again. Originally performed off-West End in 2007, the show has been re-visited and re-worked for this new production at SLT.
‘Wonderful… just fantastic’ – Elaine Paige
‘I hope someone revives it – they should’ – Graham Norton
‘Brilliantly done… most inventive’ – Sister Wendy Beckett
Because it is unlikely that you have heard any of the tracks from Sister Wendy we are asking auditionees to prepare something to sing that shows off their voice to its best. Please bring sheet music for your song, or a backing track to sing with.
This is a musical in which the ensemble plays a crucial role. We need strong performers who can sing & dance in these roles.
