The World’s Wife

by Carol Ann Duffy
Director: Jess Osorio

Performances:    May 9 – 13, 2017
First Rehearsal: March 19, 2017

Dame, Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy’s The World’s Wife throws new light on a host of seemingly familiar characters and gives them voice.

Behind every man there’s a great woman… Forget his story. These are her stories. From King Midas to the Krays, via Darwin and the Hunchback of Notre Dame, The World’s Wife throws new light on a host of seemingly familiar characters. With wit, wisdom and some knowing irony, this collection of poems gives voice to the women closest to these famous men

Cast: 4-5 Women – any age

Only requirement is a love of poetry, particularly Carol Ann Duffy’s and a willingness to experiment with a piece not specifically written for the stage.

Please select one or two poems to read (they do not need to be learnt) and be prepared to read one of the director’s choice as well.

Please email the Director if you require more information.
