Many Moons

by Alice Birch
Director: Jason Salmon

Audition 1: Sunday 21st February, Stanley Halls

Audition 2: Thursday 25th February, Stanley Halls

Performances:    May 24 – 28, 2016
First Rehearsal: April 3, 2016

Over the course of one July day, the residents of a North London street find their lives intertwined as their personal stories and secret pasts hurtle towards a conclusion that will affect them all. This taut modern piece cleverly holds a glass to the obsessions of urban life.

Set in Stoke Newington, the play tells the story of four people via a series of interlinking monologues. A recent graduate Ollie is now struggling with his PhD. Meg, pregnant with her second child, appears to have it all – the house, the husband and the family too. Bubbly, optimistic Juniper is new to London and excited about all it has to offer whilst Robert, a worldly soft-spoken man, cares for his wife who he’s slowly losing to Parkinson’s disease. The characters seem familiar enough, but as their stories unfold the become less and less so …

First staged in London in 2011, Many Moons was described as “…a meticulously written play…that slowly turns you inside out.”

All ages are approximate playing ages:

Meg (35–45yrs) – over protective mother, with another on the way
Ollie (23–30yrs) – shy, nervous graduate
Juniper (20–30yrs) – outgoing and enthusiastic, new to London
Robert (55–70yrs) – weary carer for his Parkinsons afflicted wife
