TOPIC: Film Club 21st February 2015 The Lady Vanishes

Film Club 21st February 2015 The Lady Vanishes 2 years, 9 months ago #1

A bit of early Hitchcock for you this month.

This 1938 mystery thriller stars Naomi Liddle lookalike, Margaret Lockwood as a spoilt socialite holidaying in a small alpine resort before returning to England to marry her rather dull-sounding fiancee. Marooned in a small hotel with the passengers from a snow-bound train, including the cricket-obsessed Charters and Caldicott, played by Basil Radford and Naunton Wayne, Lockwood's character encounters, and is extremely irritated by, a student of Central European music (Michael Redgrave) and the charming but slightly eccentric Miss Froy, played by Dame May Witty - the vanishing lady of the title. A tale of mystery and espionage ensues as the train finally continues its journey and the unfortunate Miss Lockwood's sanity is called into question. Cecil Parker also stars in this classic tale.

Doors open at 7.30pm. We aim to start as close to 8pm as possible
