Casting Announcement: The Crocodile

Bryon Fear, director of our late May production, Tom Basden’s The Crocodile announces his cast: I’m really very excited about directing this production. I believe SLT will be the first to stage Tom Basden’s searing comedy, The Crocodile since its premiere in 2015, so it’s a real a privilege. We were looking for a strong ensemble cast and we were spoilt for choice at the auditions – so many talented actors came and impressed us, more than we were able to cast unfortunately which made […]

SLT New Writing Competition

In November 2017, South London Theatre will be handed the keys to its newly refurbished theatre space at the Old Fire Station in West Norwood. The project has been many years in the making and has been made possible by a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The work that has been carried out will not only create an exciting new theatre, but will make the building accessible to the whole community. To commemorate the return to the Old […]

Restoration Project Update – February 2017

The restoration of South London Theatre’s Old Fire Station in West Norwood continues to forge ahead with many changes happening to the building and its structure since December last year. We continue to fundraise so that the building can be fully accessible to the wider community when we reopen our doors in the new year. Read about this month’s generous anonymous […]

Fundraisers Manual – Part 1

Putting the FUN  in Fundraising !   Part 1 – House Party I was delighted to be invited to a house party with a difference. 15 of us were treated to an exclusive restaurant experience in one of our members front rooms. There were no prices on the menu, we were fed and asked to pay what we thought the meal was worth.  The guests got to eat, drink and be merry, while the host got to show off his […]

Man From Earth – An Introduction

Director Bob Callender gives us an intriguing preview of his show, which plays in the Upper Hall Tuesday, February 28 – Saturday, March 4. No, I didn’t understand the first bit either, but I’m still going along to see it… It’s rare that the SLT stages any science fiction, and it’s not hard to see why. Chaz must have spent literally days building brand new anti-matter capacitors for our plasma blasters. But for us the biggest challenge was the scene […]

Although we hope that the Old Fire Station building works will be completed by this time, the building will not be ready to stage productions. So, following the success of previous seasonal exploits at the Halls we intend to stage another Christmas extravaganza there. We are welcoming submissions for pantomimes, musicals, […]

Restoration Update: Critical Fundraising News

As we go into what we hope is the last 10 months of the restoration and build of the Old Fire Station in West Norwood, we can reveal the final amount we need to raise to complete the works. SLT has so far managed to raise over 2 million pounds with the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund but to fully restore the exterior and all five interior floors we have a deficit of £110,000. As we reported on August 5, 2016 when we lost […]
