Jesus Christ Superstar – Talking With The Directors

Director Bryon Fear and Musical Director Gerard Johnson talk about their love for this enduring musical, which they’re bringing to life from August 23 in the Main Hall at Stanley Halls. Bryon – it’s been said recently that this show was ripe for revival and you evidently felt the same? For SLT it was an accidental revival. We couldn’t get the rights for either the small play I’d opted to direct for this year’s season, or our scheduled musical. I thought it would […]

Old Fire Station Restoration: Project Update

It was a massive blow to our restoration project when our initial contractors pulled out back in May within weeks of the building works to begin. At that time building contractors Ash Contracting Ltd, who had previously tendered for the project, were approached and a new period of negotiation began to formulate a new scheme of work that could be delivered […]

Bette and Joan

8pm, September 13-17 Once grande dames of Hollywood, by 1962, arch-rivals Bette Davis and Joan Crawford were in danger of becoming has-beens. Then an opportunity came along- to appear together in a new movie called What Ever Happened To Baby Jane. Anton Burge’s riveting two hander is a wickedly funny and shamelessly bitchy study of two of Hollywood’s greatest stars facing their insecurities, musing on their past and absolutely loathing each other. A sharp intelligent script full of barbed insults, […]

Casting Announcement: Bluebird

Siobhán Campbell, director of Simon Stephen’s Bluebird announces her cast: “The auditions for Bluebird managed to drag 47 theatrical types through the doors of Stanley Halls this month. Both fantastic and terrifying. I’ve honestly never had such tough decisions casting and got through a lot of post-it notes in the process. I won’t say Bluebird is unlike anything I’ve ever directed before, as that would be a lie. I imagine the process will be somewhat different though. Working with a cast of […]

In a change to our usual feature, this time the trio who form the cast of our next production give their insight into what promises to be a rip-roaring show. Well, to start with (spoiler alert), I’m not […]

Submissions For Next Year’s Season

Whether you’re a first-time director or a seasoned pro and you would like to direct at any time next year, please get your submissions in as soon as possible. The deadline for submissions is midnight on July 31. […]

Casting Announcement: Landscape with Weapon

Naomi Liddle, director of Joe Penhall’s Landscape with Weapon announces her cast: “I have wanted to direct this play ever since I first saw it performed nearly ten years ago, and I am delighted to finally have a cast in place, and an excellent cast at that! As is always the case with SLT auditions, there was some tough competition and a high standard of auditionees with some tricky decisions to make. I’m very excited to welcome a new member […]
