SLT has only 5 weeks left to raise the money needed to complete a FULL restoration of the Old Fire Station in West Norwood.
The restoration project is at a critical point. The generous donation from the HLF and other donors has enabled SLT to save our historic building allowing us to provide once again a cultural arts centre and a vital community hub in the heart of West Norwood.
If we do not reach our target in 5 weeks we will have to complete the project after the builders move out, which could take years.
Delays and complications have left a funding gap of £100,000 needed to complete the renovation of all floors. The current ‘Plan B’ build does not cover the floors that will house the theatre’s extensive wardrobe & props department, or the rooms and spaces that were earmarked for rehearsals and community activities.
We will not be able to give the local community access to the whole building until the middle floors are restored and made safe. To not be able to do this would be a massive blow to 13 years of hard work and constant fundraising.
