However, I have cried when I've been asked to wear certain things. But usually because I've been at risk of falling out of them. Once I've worked out a contraption with tit tape and underwear, no problem.

I'm with you there- totally agree!

Ah. I use it as it was originally intended - for sticking clothes (or toupees, originally) to skin. None of that uplift mullarkey!! Oooh! Can you imagine?!

I try not to imagine and would recommend anyone else against doing so, too. Dangerous territory.

Having read the various threads above is there anyone who admits to being in Michelle's B category:

Actors who take their costume seriously, but are far more concerned that they look attractive on stage than that their costume is authentic/appropriate. Unsurprisingly these people are usually women.

I think so far the women have espoused a singular lack of vanity, but maybe there's a strange and previously unknown correlation between people who respond to discussion board threads and a willingness to be exposed in a variety of unflattering attire.

No, the Category B'ers that spring to mind most readily haven't commented on this thread, no

Opposite problem - I had to wear an inflatable bra (literally... blew up little plastic balloon padding things every night!) for a character whose large breasts were regularly referenced on stage. Although I suppose at least that's easier to do than the other way round.

Although you did come courageously close to nudity in Neville's Island, as I recall - and, for my money, definitely won the embarrassing costume challenge hands-down in that one, too.

Oh god you've just reminded me. Jack wearing a bloody dead buzzard or whatever it was. I think I might throw.

I'm like most women I think - happy to wear anything appropiate for the part but if it suits you and feels comfortable so much the better. I have recently had to play a naked life model in Sitting Pretty at BLT and although the audience saw my back maked down to my waist (and surprisingly none of them left in disgust) I did cover my modesty at the front so as not to put the other actors off their lines !

Some actors are just very sensitive. You only have to so much as suggest that they audition for the role of an 18 stone lesbian and they get all offended.

Nudity, check (but that was the Edinburgh Fringe so it was quite standard). Unattractive costume, check. Facial hair...no, but I shaved my chest for Elegies. And the only person who noticed was Ed.

You thought you'd get away with this - as I'm not on the board very often - well be warned - I'm watching you......

Done most of it actually - except GAIN weight, because that hasn't really been necessary...! Haven't actually had to buy anything expensive, but I usually buy a little accessory or something depending on need - would draw the line at something expensive that I couldn't use for something else, as there is always something that can be found. I like to think I am easy going about what I wear on stage - flattering or not.

I haven't done full nudity either - 'top half only'. Only special people are allowed to see the precious.

(...the moustache is blonde, BLONDE I tell you!!)
