Elizabeth - Almost by Chance a Woman by Dario Fo
Directed by Elaine Heath

Performances: Tuesday 4th to Saturday 8th April 2006, 8pm, Bell Theatre

An irreverent, bawdy, hilarious, peek into the boudoir of Elizabeth I, this wonderfully written and heroically translated Fo has been wittily described as "History on drugs". An aging Elizabeth is eagerly awaiting the arrival of her young beau, the Earl of Essex. In order to prepare for this tryst, she has summoned an outrageous beautician, Dame Grosslady, who appears to speak a peculiar language all of her own. Nothing goes to plan, would-be assassins appear out of the woodwork, and something very interesting is found in the queen's bed. If you thought Blackadder's Elizabeth was fun, you haven't seen anything yet...
