New Writers Showcase
Performances: Wednesday 22nd to Saturday 25th February 2006, Prompt Corner
The Departure Lounge by Stuart DraperGerry isn't feeling very well. His wife has packed the entire house into their luggage, the airport has succumbed to a rather naughty snow storm, and now he's being harrassed by a mad man. It couldn't possibly get worse. Or could it? Alison Rockbrand Director Cry by Andrew Scott
A man, a woman, a taxi. 'Cry' is a multi-layered exploration of contemporary morals and how society may or may not be changing. It's also funny. Running time: approx 45 mins
Cast: Rehearsal schedule will be light, beginning just before Christmas. The set and sound design will also make this a very exciting production to work on, and the play gives the cast a chance to get their part into some meaty, enjoyable and memorable roles. About the writer: Andrew Scott studied under David Edgar at Birmingham University where he won his year's trophy for Best new writer. Sarah Kane was second. In the last ten years his work has been performed at the Almeida and the New End in London and by presitigious theatre companies such as Paines Plough. I am delighted to be bringing this fresh new work to SLT and look forward to directing what will be a fulfilling and fun experience for all involved. If you have any questions at all (and don’t forget we will be looking for backstage people as well), please email me. Paul Hurley Director Back to top |
