Gosforth's Fete is a one-act play originally part of a production called called Confusions by Alan Aykbourn. Gosforth's running the village gala, but there's bad news from stalwart Milly Carter mistakenly broadcast over the public-address system. Pink-legged Cubmaster Stewart Stokes discovers alcohol, there's a fine Vicar, and Councillor Mrs Piece gets severely dishevelled. And that's before the rain. Gosforth's Fete starts as drama, develops into well-choreographed chaos as everything goes wrong and climaxes as full-blown farce.
This uproariously funny 40 minute comedy is SLT's return to Ayckbourn's work after four years, and excitingly will take place on the SLT rooftop. We also have a date booked at Clapham Common bandstand. A cast of 5 (2F, 3M) is required for this mini-adventure (details below) which promises to be fast-paced and action-packed- and a lot of fun for a well knit set of actors. Character details are below, audition pieces will be available in the bar from the beginning of February. Really good comedy parts all round.
