The story is set in seedy cabaret club on the planet Frottage III - presided over by the alluring and charismatic Saucy Jack himself. However, all is not well at Saucy Jack's: danger lurks in every corner as the cabaret acts are being picked off one by one by a relentless serial killer. Dreams are shared, secrets revealed and the evil shadow of the Slingback Killer draws ever near. All is not lost as the Space Vixens arrive to solve the mystery - interstellar, super-fashion crime fighters here to save the day by the Power of Disco! Love interests develop, closets get opened, girl gets girl and the audience gets to join in as the show builds to its extraordinary musical climax.
Audition Notes
As this is a musical, you will need to prepare one song that you feel showcases your vocal abilities, range and sense of style that you feel would be appropriate for a show with a strong disco style. We would also prefer it if you were able to supply a backing track for your song due to the style of the show. You will also take part in a dance workshop to showcase your movement skills as well as reading from the script.
Cast of Characters
Saucy Jack - (late 20s - early 50s) A failed magician, Jack De’ath is now proprietor of ‘Saucy Jacks’ night club. He is charismatic, alluring sometimes charming and has a dark secret.
Jubilee Climax - (20s - mid 30s) The leader of the Space Vixens. Strong intelligent and devout, she is the archetypal Vixen.
Booby Shevalle - (20s - mid 30s) Booby is a cocktail waitress at Saucy Jacks. It is a female character played by a man as faithfully as possible. Bubbly, trashy, hopeful and loyal.
Doctor Whackoff - (late 20s - early 40s) required to strip to 'fetish' underwear. Half psychiatrist, half bar-fly, half weirdo, Whackoff is certainly very bizarre. Older than the others, possibly German, and certainly Freudian. He is the ‘storyteller’ for the show, explaining to the audience all about the odd people he meets in a strange little bar called ‘Saucy Jacks’.
Bunny Lingus - (20s - 30s) requires girl/ girl kissing. Bunny is a Space Vixen and second in command. She’s clearly been around the block a few times, and is wild and raunchy, but with a very big heart.
Sammy Sax - (early 20s)
Mitch Maypole (early 20s - early 30s) required to strip to 'fetish' underwear. An attractive barman at Saucy Jacks. Pretty and always appearing cheerful, but in reality stuck in a rut and appearing to be harbour a great secret.
Chesty Prospects/ Shirley Tristar - (mid 20s - late 30s) requires girl/ girl kissing. Is a no-nonsense, grease-smeared biker chick. Takes it where she can get it - whatever it is. She’s also a plastic smuggler, but unfortunately indulgence in plastics, rubber or fetish fabric of any kind is now illegal.
Anna Labia - (early 20s - late 20s) - Anna is a rookie Space Vixen, fresh from the Academy and on her first mission. She is young, pretty, exuberant and keen to impress her two Vixen superiors, but is a bit naïve and clearly very nervous.
