Restoration Update: Critical Fundraising News

As we go into what we hope is the last 10 months of the restoration and build of the Old Fire Station in West Norwood, we can reveal the final amount we need to raise to complete the works.

SLT has so far managed to raise over 2 million pounds with the help of the Heritage Lottery Fund but to fully restore the exterior and all five interior floors we have a deficit of £110,000.

As we reported on August 5, 2016 when we lost our original contractors we believed we had an additional £150,000 to raise. That figure was reduced and because of continued fundraising efforts the new target is £120,000 of which we have already raised £10,000.

We are aware that time is short and that £110,000 is still a considerable amount to raise and if we fail to do so there is a compromise build which will mean the first and second floors will not be restored as a part of the project.

After 13 years of tireless fundraising by members of the South London Theatre and members of the local community, we feel it would be a terrible shame not to achieve the full restoration of this historic landmark building which has been saved for future generations by SLT.
