The next new members’ night will be at 8pm Tuesday 4 June
Ever wondered what it’s like to be a member of SLT, but been afraid to ask? If you’re over 18, come down to the Old Fire Station and find out.
Or perhaps you’ve not long joined and want to meet a few more of the folk worth knowing around the place – and there are so many!
Whatever your interest or motivation for finding out more: on-stage, backstage, technical or even just seeing our shows and poking about in our Grade II listed Old Fire Station building, this night is for you! (And if you can’t make it, don’t worry, there’ll be others)
As well as a tour around our refurbished theatre building, there’ll be spokespeople on hand from all aspects of SLT participation, including:
Membership generally – information on all aspects of being a member including Friend of SLT membership if you’re just interested in seeing shows and supporting us that way.
Theatrical participation – For those interested in getting involved, there’ll be someone to tell you how we go about auditioning and casting actors for our shows.
Stage Management – Learn how shows depend on the organisation and discipline of skilled stage managers and their teams, and how we need more of you kind of people! Find out more in this Spotlight article
Lighting & Sound – Learn how we provide mood and atmosphere and ensure that our audience isn’t left in the dark!
Wardrobe – See our extensive wardrobe floor, and learn how when combined with our volunteer team we can drive revenue for the club from costume hires.
Box Office – See how we operate our online system, take payments and welcome the audience members, and how we need volunteers like you to keep ticket sales flowing.
Front of House & Raffle – Hear about what it takes to welcome and seat our audiences, and how you could help by being a front of house volunteer, plus selling programmes and raffle tickets to help boost our revenues
Members Club Bar – Enjoy a free drink in the Members Club Bar, learn about its significance as a social hub to the SLT community and how you can help us keep it open every night of the week.
You’ll be able to join on the spot on the evening if you’d like, so if you’ve experienced any difficulty or indecision about registering your interest up to now, we can help. You can find out more about how to volunteer too – we have an easy sign-up system for the bar, box office and front of house, all of which need volunteer support especially in show weeks.
See you there!
