A Christmas Carol – foodbank collection update

Foodbank collections – an update from A Christmas Carol director Mark Ireson

Although we’d rather they didn’t exist, foodbanks have become an essential lifeline for many people who find themselves in financial difficulties. As well as providing emergency food to those in crisis in our local area, the Foodbank provides support and advice to help people find long-term solutions to their problems.

After every performance of our sold-out show, we held a collection for Norwood & Brixton Foodbank. The response of our audiences was tremendous, and thanks to your generosity we received the following message from Elizabeth Maytom, Project Lead at the Foodbank which is based as St Luke’s Church:

“We have counted the donations and you have collected £2541 which is staggering and such a great support of our work. Please do share and thank all involved – it is amazing.”

Norwood and Brixton Foodbank is a registered charity, number 1151274. You can also donate direct to the Foodbank’s Christmas collection. Text DINNER 5 to 70085 to donate £5 or DINNER 10 to 70085 to donate £10. This costs £5 or £10 plus a standard rate message.
