SYNOPSIS
Being Friends
1944: Two young men, one an artist and one a conscientious objector, meet in a Kent meadow and discover the similarities and differences between them.
Characters
Oliver Bell – 20s – a conscientious objector. A strong, straightforward man with strong personal reasons for not fighting.
Eric Faber – 20s – a travelling artist, physically frail but with a strong sense of who he is.
Lost
1982: A bereaved mother recalls her son Ian (killed in the Falklands) to his friend, who remembers a very different person.
Characters
May Appleton – 50s+ – ideally a north-eastern accent – the play is set in Redcar, Cleveland. A mix of maternal emotions, tenderness, anger and love.
Geoffrey Church – 30s – a naval lieutenant. Friend to Ian. Sober, a little reserved.
Please contact Lisa Thomas for copies of the script and more details. Auditions will be arranged via Zoom from 6-9 October
