Festive Sing Along

3pm Sunday December 22, 2020 At our last Sunday Social before Christmas Member Gerard Johnson will be leading an afternoon of festive song in the foyer to welcome in the yuletide. We invite members and their friends to pop down to exercise their lungs and larynxes. We’re hoping to have some festive treats available in the bar and we hope to see as many of you as possible. A great chance to celebrate with friends old and new perhaps for […]

Introducing the SLT Visual Story

To ensure everyone feels comfortable when visiting our theatre, we’ve created an SLT Visual Story. Visual Stories are intended to help prepare any new visitors for the experience of visiting a new venue and to help familiarise them with their surroundings. Our visual story includes photographs and descriptions which talk you through the spaces you will be visiting and what to expect from the different types of shows we put on, how ticketing works and what facilities you may use. […]

A Christmas Carol – the Director’s Preview

Director Mark Ireson introduces Neil Bartlett’s re-imagining of the Christmas classic, which opens on Thursday 12 December for 10 performances over 2 weeks. What inspired you to direct this show? I’ve always enjoyed the story, and the prospect of seeing the huge cast of vital characters and its powerful moral message on stage is very appealing as a director. However, many of the stage adaptations were too “chocolate boxy” for my taste, in danger of becoming an exercise in large […]

Membership Figures Update November 2019

Back in early September in our last Membership Update, we reported that there was a levelling off of numbers with paid up subscriptions. Well, we’re pleased to report that things are back on the up again after a good quarter. We had a good few shows with large casts, which attracted newbies as well as other members back into the fold, and that trend seems to be continuing. Maybe there is an upside to the evenings drawing in! It’s likely […]

Spotlight on … Box Office Volunteering

Everyone visiting our theatre will interact with our box office team, whether it’s simply to check in to see a show or to sort out a ticket query. The team, managed by Gareth Milton, forms the gateway for audiences coming to our theatre, and it’s made up of cheery volunteers who meet and greet them. We asked Lorna, a very recent volunteer, and experienced volunteer Noah to tell us more about what’s involved. How long have you volunteered for box […]

Wild West Norwood’s Window Wanderland trail

From 29 November – 8 December 4 – 9pm daily “Exit, pursued by a bear” has to be one of the best-loved stage directions of any play ever, so when the Norwood Forum announced they were setting up a walking trail around our neighbourhood based on the theme of ‘Wild West Norwood”, we couldn’t resist registering and preparing our contribution to feature it. Along with West Norwood residents and businesses, we’re taking part in Window Wanderland – people will be […]
