Good Girl

Winner of Voice’s Pick of the Fringe and Funny Women’s Best Show award, the exceptional debut play from Soho Theatre Writers’ Lab alumna Naomi Sheldon comes to Soho Theatre On Demand, filmed at the Old Red Lion Theatre in December 2017 before its Trafalgar Studios transfer in 2018. ‘One of these days, am I going to evaporate? Right here?’ Growing up in the 90s, GG and her mates obsess over music, vaginas and witchcraft. But there’s a problem. Living feels too extreme. To be one of the good girls, GG learns to make herself numb, but at what cost? A bold, provocative and laugh-out-loud funny coming-of-age tale.

Panti Bliss: High Heels in Low Places

The Queen of Ireland, Panti, invites you into her gender-discombobulating, stiletto-shaped world, exposing the stories behind the make-up to reveal the National Treasure she is today. In 2014, Panti landed herself in a legal sh*tstorm, dubbed ‘Pantigate’. Her speech about homophobia went viral, was broadcast around the world, remixed by Pet Shop Boys, caused a parliamentary meltdown, and fed into Ireland’s marriage equality referendum success. Hilarious and poignant, Panti traces her journey from small-town boy kicking against traditions; to towering plastique woman in false lashes making history.

SLT Virtual Play Reading Group
curated by Jennifer Nettles

Every weekend we get together online and read a different play.

This group is for all members of South London Theatre, with the aim of reading (or just listening to) a selection of plays together via Zoom.

The group meets weekly on Saturdays at 3pm. The organiser is Jenn Nettles, who advertises the play to be read in advance, requests registration from interested members and then sends out a Zoom invitation in advance of the session.

SLT Write Club
curated by Dave Hollander

SLT Write Club is working on a new project during lockdown, a challenge set by Chair Dave Hollander. Something Like Theatre – the virtual Old Fire Station project – will use a series of short plays to build up virtual, immersive theatre tours of our building. These can be rooted in historical fact or entirely fantastical – they can include monologues, duologues or group scenes, of any genre. This is a writer-led process, so what you create will dictate the form the piece ultimately takes.

SLT Virtual Open Mic Night
curated by Daniel Kelly

A chance for budding musicians, stand-up comics, poets and general ne’er-do-wells to try out their material or hone live skills, this event is currently available for SLT members, and we hope to hold it weekly depending on the number of performers coming forward.
