Spring/Summer 2026 Submissions now open
15 May 25
Submissions window now open for January - July 2026
Would-be directors! The script submissions window for the first half of our 2026 season is now open, so it’s time to get reading!
There are a few important things we should flag before you apply;
If you’re a playwright, please find a willing director to submit your original play with a vision for the production. Sorry, but we can’t accept original plays for which we’d need to find a director: our submissions process is director-led and we don’t have capacity to provide feedback on new writing.
Anyone can submit, as we welcome new and returning directors to SLT. We’ll be considering submissions immediately following the 30 June deadline, with a view to announcing the season in early autumn.
The play you choose should not have been performed at SLT for at least a decade. (To check on what we have produced over the last decade, our archive is HERE.)
Check that the rights may be available for your chosen production – publishers’ websites like Nick Hern Books and Concord are your first stop.
We also understand some big shows may need further planning than the six month period, so if you have an idea that you think that might apply to, please email us first theatrecommittee@southlondontheatre.co.uk.
The submissions window for August – December 2026 will be in autumn this year.

Here are some great websites to look at for reading ideas. These sites give you a good sense of what is currently available for performance rights:
We always look for a mix of comedy, drama and mixed cast sizes. We would love to showcase more work by underrepresented groups, and we wish to create diversity on stage.
So don’t forget – the deadline for submissions is midnight on 30 June 2025.
Please fill in the form in order to submit and save a copy of it for yourself – THE SUBMISSION FORM
If you have any questions, please email theatrecommittee@southlondontheatre.co.uk but please don’t email your submission – use the form. Good luck!
