Auditions: Black Mountain

Rebecca and Paul retreat to a remote cabin in the mountains to repair their fractured relationship. Paul has been unfaithful, and Rebecca has insisted they take this trip as a last attempt at honesty, accountability and survival as a couple. Cut off from the world, the silence between them becomes a pressure cooker.

But someone else is here.

Helen — a figure from Paul's past — begins to appear around the cabin: at the window, in the woods, on the periphery. Her presence unsettles Paul, but Rebecca seems strangely calm, almost expectant. What begins as a psychological disturbance slowly becomes a shifting game of advantage — who knows what? who holds the truth? who is leading whom?

As the nights pass, reality frays. Paul becomes increasingly paranoid, unsure whether he’s being haunted, hunted or punished. Rebecca’s distance becomes strategic. Helen’s appearances escalate from eerie to violent, upending the boundaries between guilt, desire, fear and control.

When the final confrontation arrives, the truth is revealed: Rebecca and Helen have engineered Paul’s unravelling. The trip was never about reconciliation — it was about forcing a reckoning. The women have been working together, step by step, to turn Paul’s own lies against him.
