Casting: Hamlet – Into the Manosphere
28 Feb 26
Director David Frost introduces his cast for his new take on Hamlet, Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy.
Finalising the cast for this production has been an exhilarating, if tremendously challenging, experience. With around sixty skilled actors throwing their hats into the ring, the process was charged with the exact kind of volatile energy this show will demand.
The essence of this adaptation lies upon the razor-edge between unhinged and comedic satire on the manosphere phenomenon and the deep, brooding pathos of Shakespeare’s tragedy. It was a joy to see so many performers find the humor in the absurdity while keeping sight of the darkness beneath.
The competition for the roles of Hamlet and Ophelia was particularly fierce, and the chemistry that sparked between our chosen cast members in the recall was undeniable. We’ve ended up with a brilliant ensemble—a mix of trusted collaborators and exciting new faces—who I know will bring something truly visceral to the SLT stage.
To everyone who auditioned: thank you for the incredible prep and the massive emotional investment you brought to the room. You’ve given us a fantastic glimpse of the chaos and carnage to come. I can't wait for everyone to see this vision fully unleashed this May, through this brilliant and versatile cast!
