In short: I love SLT. You’ll see me on the bar frequently, as well as directing, performing, set designing, fight choregraphing, and teaching at the Youth Theatre on a Saturday. You’ll also see me equally happy with a power drill or needle and thread in my hand, or beavering away at my laptop presenting the new season launch, or sitting and talking with other members about all manner of things SLT-related.

SLT is a vibrant community and fun to be part of, and I feel so lucky to have it on my doorstep.
But volunteering at and loving this place and this community isn’t enough on its own. Being part of the Theatre Committee and attending the Exec meetings over the last year has shown me more about the wheels that keep our theatre moving – what they need to run well, what might stop them from doing so, and what happens if they do. I’ve started to see how we forward plan and safeguard our future, and I’m excited about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
As someone who really values communication, who embraces the efficiencies that digitisation can bring, and who champions diversity, inclusion, safeguarding and respect, there are ways I think we can build on the fantastic work we currently do, and future-proof us for years to come. These are areas that I would particularly like to see us develop in and lead on as we look ahead.
I’m a doer, and since I rejoined the theatre in 2022, I’ve been someone that’s consistently put my hand up to say ‘yes, I’ll give that a go’, and never yet looked back. I’d now like to take up the baton from Simon (and all those who have selflessly led the theatre before) to see us through the next stage of our journey.
