Building Update October 2025

Here is the latest update on the work that has been taking place on the building.

Front door update

Although not a disaster, we are having to remove the doors for some urgent repairs to woodwork below the midpoint of the doors. This needs to be done prior to the sealing and repainting of the doors.

Access to the building, week commencing 27 October 2025

In order to repair the woodwork, one of the main doors will be removed and replaced with a temporary one while it goes off-site for some essential repairs.

The temporary piece of wood will be installed, and the existing locks / latches etc will be fitted to the temporary door, so access will be as normal – it’ll just look odd!

The following week we will aim to repeat the process with the other door that opens, although that is a little more complex due to the lock.

Red heritage paint

As mentioned in the last update, heritage paint is limited in both supply and colour options.  Red tones are particularly difficult.

We have found a couple of options and these are shown here.  A small piece of wood with two variants of red paint plus a section of the old door paint colour.

A small group of us decided that the Brouns colour was closest to the one we had before, hence that is the one that has been chosen.

We have also now received the green heritage paint for the kit room windows, so we will be looking to those painted and the secondary glazing put back over the next few weeks.
