Summer Shorts 2025 – Plays and writers

01 Jun 25

After a great anonymous table read on Monday 5th May, our panel of five considered the scoring provided by the assembled readers and audience and we’re proud to announce our lineup of plays and their writers for the Summer Shorts 2025.

After considering an amazing 50 submitted texts for the 10 spots in the programme which is coming up in August 2025, we’ve finally arrived at an exciting evening plan, spanning monologue & small company, drama & comedy, with some sci-fi and other surprises thrown in; all written to this year’s theme of Scale, by a mixture of SLT Members and submitters from beyond the Fire Station.

The plays you will see in August in order of performance are:

  • How To Audit Your Dragon by Oneikeh Campbell
  • The Enthusiast by Eddie Coleman
  • What If We Were Not Measured by Flora Blissett
  • Flat by Kate Lynn-Devere
  • You Ask Yourself, Are You Happy? by Rebecca Simon

Interval

  • Too Much For One Goddess by Marilyn McCaughan
  • The Scale-Up Guy by Penelope Lipsham
  • A Sense of Scale by James Taverner
  • With You All The Way by Joe Dominic
  • Big Ed’s Big Show And Even Bigger Prizes by Joe Reed and Matt Prestage

We’re currently casting from auditions attended by over 50 people and will be making an announcement of our final choices very soon.
