Shout-out for the Sewing Bee

22 Feb 26

Wardrobe Lead Jenny Bennett gives an update on our regular SLT Sewing Bee.

Hats off to the Sewing Bee

A huge “thank you” to all who came to the Sewing Bee on Sunday 15 February. It was lovely to welcome so many new faces as well as regulars, and we made some much-needed repairs to Victorian bonnets, period shirts and dresses.

For our next Sewing Bee on 22 March, we’re planning a hat workshop, transforming some under-utilised broad-brimmed hats into late Victorian/Edwardian hats. We’re on the look-out for resources to elevate and trim the hats, so if you have any of the following to donate, we’d be most grateful: feathers, fake flowers, ribbon, fascinators, millinery wire, silk scarves and large lengths of light material such as tulle, gauze, voile and net.  Colours to team with our outfits include blue, pink, grey, olive, mustard, neutral and light browns.

Please drop donations off in Wardrobe Office on the second floor, or email us if you have any questions. Wardrobe welcomes any new volunteers who can help out on a regular basis, or if you’re handy with a needle, do join us on the Sewing Bee!
